TOP ARMY REVOLVER. Cal. 44CF. S# 4761. Standard configuration of the transitional gun between model 1860 armies and 1873 single actions. Nickel finish, scarce variant 8" barrel, 1-line "New York U.S. America" address, integral rear sight unique to this model, 2-line patent markings on frame. Iron grip frame contains vintage ivory grips. Engraving is well executed in style of Nimschke. Originally made in 44 rimfire, this revolver has been modified during its time of use to 44 center fire, But revolver still retains the original profile and conversion was well done by altering hammer face firing pin & drilling hole at back of frame. CONDITION: fine as customized, appears all matching & complete, retains most all re-plated nickel, good discernible worn original markings, mostly discerned rolled naval battle scene. Mechanically fine, crisp rifled bore. Ivory grips have toned patina and age cracks. (01-27903/JS). ANTIUQE. $3,000-5,000.
